Their story
John Black is a six-year-old boy who was born near a military camp in Somalia and grew up alongside soldiers. He survived days without food or water, dangerous roads, explosions and IED attacks near the towers where he stayed, with no veterinary care. He was sometimes chased with sticks or had stones thrown at him. Many of his companions did not survive.
Despite that difficult beginning, he has kept his love for people. He can be a little shy with someone new, but once he feels safe he becomes gentle, loyal and affectionate. He forms deep bonds with the people he trusts and loves to follow his person.
He grew up with other dogs and cats and is used to sharing his space. He has good manners, walks on a lead and behaves well around people, despite never having had a home of his own.
He is now safe in a boarding facility in Uganda, waiting for a forever family. After a life spent surviving, he needs patience, reassurance, a soft bed and a place where he can feel that he belongs.
The home they need
